Instacart Acquires Rev Member Rosie

Rosie, one of Rev’s four founding member startups, recently announced its acquisition by grocery e-commerce giant Instacart.

Since 2013, Rosie has been providing e-commerce solutions to local, independent grocers, offering them a customizable mobile and web platform to expand their business and serve customers who prefer to shop online, but still want to support grocers in their communities.

Founded by Nick Nickitas, MBA ’14, Jon Ambrose, MBA ’14, and Michael Ryzewic, the trio evolved their company through eLab, Cornell’s student startup accelerator. Today, Nickitas serves on eLab’s instructor team.

Rosie is credited with making a significant economic impact on the Ithaca area, from creating jobs and raising capital to working with regional grocers. Local grocers that utilize Rosie’s platform include P&C Fresh in Ithaca and Shur-Save in Trumansburg, New York.

According to a press release from Instacart, following the acquisition, the Rosie team will continue their work to support independent grocers by leading Instacart’s business strategy and technology development for local independent grocers.

“For nearly a decade, our team has lived, breathed, and devoted ourselves to the success of local independent grocers and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” said Nickitas in the release. “Instacart’s mission of powering the future of grocery is closely aligned with our own, and I’m confident that combining our teams and technologies is the way to best continue serving these important retailers. Together, we will continue to innovate and build easy to use and affordable digital solutions that help our retailer, wholesaler, and brand partners thrive and better meet the needs of their customers.”
